Somerset Regal Bank

Community

At Somerset Regal Bank we have stayed true to our communities since 1887.  This is part of what makes us who we are, contributing in meaningful ways to the health and vitality of the neighborhoods we serve.  We recognize that it is the local businesses and non-profits that give much of the life, shape and meaning to the places we live.  We're proud to stand with them and by them in helping make that happen.

Here are just some of the ways we help in our communities:

Somerset Regal Bank employees help make the holidays special for those in need

Bank employees answered the call when United Way of Northern New Jersey asked for help from the community to bring holiday cheer and much-needed winter apparel to children, adults with disabilities, and seniors in need.  A carload of gifts was delivered to United Way of Northern New Jersey for distribution to struggling individuals and families.  These gifts may be the only ones received by those less fortunate in the community.

Healthcare Heroes

We provided a monetary donation to the Somerset County Business Partnership for its initiative of working with area restaurants to send fresh meals to healthcare workers at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset, ensuring the timely delivering of healthy meals to the hospital staff during the pandemic.

Working locally with CJHRC to meet the needs of low and moderate income people

Somerset Regal Bank provides the Central Jersey Housing Resource Center (CJHRC) with grants to support the organization’s efforts in assisting area households that are struggling to find housing that meets their needs and means in Central New Jersey.  Somerset Regal Bank is the agency’s top supporter.  Our contributions pay for client counseling on both a group and individual basis.  In addition to providing for financial literacy counseling, the funds have been used for pre- and post-purchase counseling courses designed to acquaint prospective home buyers with the issues involved in owning a home as well as things they need to consider once they are homeowners.

Free Community Shred Days

For many years, Somerset Regal Bank has held a series of Community Shred Days that are free and open to the public. Area residents have an opportunity to take advantage of on-site document shredding.  In addition, participants receive valuable information on how to safeguard themselves against identity theft.  In exchange for this free service, the Bank requests that participants make a donation to Feeding Hands Pantry in Somerville and the Flemington Area Food Pantry to help them restock their shelves.

Partnering with EVERFI to make a difference in our communities

Somerset Regal Bank partners with EVERFI to provide hundreds of students at seven area schools with interactive, online financial literacy resources at no charge to the schools or students.  At the elementary school level, students use fun money-managing games to learn the basic ins and outs of finances.  Middle schoolers role-play as  the "mayor" of their town, helping citizens solve the financial problems life throws their way.  High school students learn how to manage their personal finances in the real world—from applying for college financial aid to establishing credit and investing.  We believe financial literacy is an important aspect of everyday life, and will continue to invest in future generations.
